Low back pain: what you need to know

We know that dealing with back pain can be challenging, and we are here to provide you with the information and support you need.

Firstly, you’re not alone. Approximately 80% of people experience low back pain at some point in their lives. We know how you feel, back pain can be horrible. It’s sometimes hard to escape, it can make everyday activities like putting on socks difficult and it makes it a challenge to do the things you love to do! The good news is, at Island Wellness we specialise in low back pain and we’ve probably helped thousands of cases just like yours.

Causes

The most important part of fixing low back pain is identifying the true cause. Low back pain can have many causes but the most common cause is a mechanical issue. Mechanical means it is primarily related to the way the components of your spine (the bones, discs, ligaments, and muscles) work together and the stress placed on those structures. By identifying the underlying cause of low back pain we can take the first steps in finding effective relief to not only get you feeling better but also prevent any future issues.

Our Proven Approach

At Island Wellness we understand that every person we see is unique and finding the root cause is the most important thing. Firstly we will conduct an in depth investigation into what you are experiencing and what could be contributing to your discomfort. We assess your spine and neurological health using specialised tests. We conduct a posture analysis to assess how your everyday posture could be contributing to the pain. We conduct non-invasive tests to assess areas of tension and inflammation in your low back. If your case requires further investigation like x-ray or an MRI we obtain diagnostic imaging.

Treatment

After figuring out exactly what is causing your low back pain we create an individualised plan to get you feeling better. Usually that consists of a combination of chiropractic care, postural correction, stretching and strengthening routines, anti-inflammatory protocols, spinal decompression, shock-wave therapy and at-home exercises.

Chiropractic Care

Chiropractic care is a safe, natural, non-invasive and extremely effective method that addresses the root causes of your low back pain, not just the symptoms. These treatments are tailored to your unique needs, as we understand that each patient is different. Chiropractic care aims to relieve pain, reduce muscle tension, enhance mobility, promote healing and prevent recurrence
